Day-cation!

 11 year anniversary…

so I’ve got my LOVE glasses on…

Because of this, I’m doing a few posts having to do with our celebrations of LOVE!

We have  VERY SACRED things we do every anniversary…

1.  Spend the whole day together

2.  Eat yummy food

3.  Tony sings me the song from our wedding

(he forgot the words this year!)

4.  Watch our wedding video – usually as a family (didn’t get to it)

oh well… not so sacred

We had an awesome day yesterday, despite our sitter having to cancel because of a toothache.  Sorry Grandma Bev!  :(

Actually, I like having our kids celebrate our marriage with us.

They are a direct blessing because of our commitment to each other.

And I love sharing special occasions with them.

We went to the lovely city of Holland, MI for the day!

I just discovered Holland this year, and it is a fantastic town!  So much fun stuff over there!

We started our “Day-cation” (ha!  just thought of that… day + vacation, has that been done before?!  Genius!)  by eating lunch at Alpenrose downtown.  It was really nice.  They even gave the KIDS glass stemware!  And, they had YELLOW WATERMELON!!  What?!  It’s true… thought it was pineapple – bit it – WATERMELON!  Crazy!

Then the coolest thing happened –

This older couple came over and said we reminded them of their family years ago.  We talked to them for a few minutes and they smiled at our kids all through dinner.  After they left, our waitress came over to tell us this couple had paid for our bill!  For our WHOLE family!  Wasn’t that AWESOME?!

Note to future self:  bless the socks off a young family some day by doing the same…

Thank you Hamiltons from Rockford!  :)

On we went to the Dutch Village!  What a fun place!  They had lots of history of the Netherlands, Dutch dancers (which we danced with!), wooden shoe making demonstration, fun rides for the kids, goat walking (no lie), and a wooden shoe playground.  It was a blast!  And it was soooo hot!

So, though the sky was cloudy, we headed to the beach on Beautiful Lake Michigan!  We ran down to the lake and jumped in to cool off, but were only in there for a few minutes before the storm rolled in.

We hit the always delicious McDonalds on the way home – and put the kids to bed early.  ;)   To watch the Olympics, of course!

A very spectacular day celebrating with our eleven years!
